We warmly invite all of our colleagues to Japan for the IBITA AGM, Educational days, and ITC module.

Greeting

Dear Members,

My name is Yoshihide Hokari, and I am honored to serve as the Chairperson of the IBITA AGM 2025, which will be held in Tokyo, Japan. Originally, Japan was scheduled to host the AGM in 2022; however, due to the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, we were unfortunately unable to proceed with the event. In 2023, the AGM resumed as an in-person gathering in Sweden after four years, and last year, it was held with great success in Verona, Italy. As we approach this year's IBITA AGM, I sincerely hope that many members will participate, strengthening our unity and contributing to the further advancement of the Bobath concept.

Educational Day

For this year’s Educational Day, we have invited three distinguished professors:

Professor Kaoru Takakusaki, a leading expert in neurophysiology and postural control, Professor Eiichi Naito, a foremost researcher in body schema, and Professor Hiroshi Yamazaki, whose primary research focus is AI-driven motion analysis.

The lectures will explore the fundamental research underpinning the Bobath concept and present ways to visualize postural and movement analysis, ultimately linking our clinical practice to evidence-based development.

Following the precedent set in Sweden, the lectures on Educational Day will be open to the public and streamed online, providing a valuable learning opportunity for an even broader audience of therapists.

Hybrid AGM Format

For the first time, this AGM will be held in a hybrid format, with both on-site and online participation. We hope this will create a fair and inclusive platform for IBITA members to engage in meaningful discussions.

Tokyo – A City of Rich History and Culture

Tokyo is a well-known city to many, but its history dates back over 400 years to the Edo period. The rich cultural heritage from that era continues to influence modern-day Japan. Traditional Japanese arts such as Kabuki, Ukiyo-e (woodblock prints), Haikai (Japanese poetry), and the tea ceremony remain highly regarded. Tokyo is also famous for its culinary traditions. The "Four Kings of Edo Cuisine"—unagi (grilled eel), sushi, tempura, and soba (buckwheat noodles)—remain popular dishes among Japanese people today.

City Walk & Gala Dinner

For this year’s City Walk, we are organizing multiple tour options tailored to the diverse preferences and interests of our attendees. We hope that all participants will have the opportunity to fully experience and enjoy Japanese culture. For the Gala Dinner, we have chosen a setting that embodies the authentic Japanese "Izakaya" experience—a unique fusion of a bar and a restaurant, offering a relaxed yet lively atmosphere for all to enjoy.

A Personal Message of Gratitude

Over the years, I have traveled to various host countries for the IBITA AGM, receiving warm hospitality and kindness from fellow members around the world. This year, I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to give back and extend my gratitude to all participants. I sincerely look forward to welcoming many IBITA members to Tokyo for this special occasion.

Warmest regards,
Yoshihide Hokari
Chairperson, IBITA AGM 2025
